All 6th – 12th graders are welcome to attend our Fall Retreat!
Friday November 9 – Saturday November 10, we will be eating and sleeping at Fenton UMC and spending Saturday in service in Flint. We will leave at 5:30 pm Friday and return about 8 pm Saturday. The cost is $30. Let Bridget know if you have any questions!

On Saturday Oct 6, our UMC Renaissance District sent 1000 volunteers out around Detroit to 20 worksites to make a difference. Our West Outer Drive neighborhood was one of the sites and we had volunteers from Redford Aldersgate, West Outer Drive, New Beginnings, Birmingham First, Newburg and Britton UMC’s. We were able to clean up lots, gather tires for Cass, board up three houses and paint the boards. What a great day!

Our congregation will be participating in this event on Saturday October 6, as workers and as a work site! Our West Outer Drive site will be one of the work sites. Come get involved!

On Friday April 20, 3 people were shot and killed in our church’s neighborhood. Although we have no personal connections that we are aware of, it felt like we should do something to respond. On Sunday April 22, we invited our congregation to gather at church at 6:30 pm and we walked to the site of the crime, about 8 blocks, where we prayed and sang and tried to let he neighborhood know that our church cares about this community. We had a great turnout, and others joined us as they saw us walking, and more still came out to join us at the scene.

For the next week, our church will house men and women who are currently experiencing homelessness. Our church will provide a place to sleep, meals and fellowship so we need all the help we can get! Bring some snacks or fruit by one of the days or come share some time over breakfast or dinner. Get involved in this very special week in our church!
