Super Bowl Subs are coming!

Our youth group will be selling sub sandwiches on Super Bowl Sunday (February 1) – order forms are available in your bulletin each Sunday at church or let Bridget Nelson know you want one!  We have turkey or ham and lots of options for toppings.  Subs are $8 (2 for $15!) and all proceeds support our youth group’s summer mission trip.  We appreciate your support!

Committed to Christ Campaign Kicks Off Sunday the 5th

Committed to Christ is a six week campaign that will be in our worship services as well as small groups. All are encouraged to be in worship each week and select a small group to be part of. We have groups meeting during each worship service, and 5 other groups throughout the week, both daytime and evenings. Call the church office if you need a list of the options or want to sign up.

Our campaign starts today with small groups meeting at both 9:30 and 11 am. Pastors Jeff and Courtney will start the preaching series next Sunday October 12.

Each week in worship, you will get a chance to commit to an aspect of your life with Jesus – Prayer, Bible Study, Worship, Witness, Giving and Service. Each week, everyone will hear a message on the weeks topic and have an opportunity to fill out a commitment card about that topic. Those in small groups will also read and discuss a chapter from the Committed to Christ book.

We hope you will join us on this exciting journey! All are welcome to one service on November 16th to celebrate the campaign with church at 10 am and a meal to follow.

Join us on Facebook for daily readings and devotions!

Youth Mission Trip Videos

17 teenagers and 5 adults spent a week with Motown Mission in Detroit this month. They worked with MUFI (Michigan Urban Farming Initiative) and also on a woman’s house in the neighborhood near Metropolitan UMC where they stayed. It was a great week. Hear more about it and see what they did!

Help us “Feed the 5,000”!

This summer, as we read through the Gospel of John, we have decided to try and collect 5,000 food items for our food pantry! We are close to 2,000 already and need everyone to chip in! Bring any non perishable donations to church on Sundays, or to the box in the lobby any day of the week.
Thanks for your help! Together, we will be able to feed the 5,000!

Brightmoor Garden Video

This summer, we have many groups coming to work in Brightmoor – from the Metro Area, and from all around Michigan, as well as other states!  We have already hosted youth groups from Kansas and Wisconsin though our Methodist connections, and now have some Catholic Youth Groups at work from Iowa and Ohio though Young Neighbors in Action.    Not to mention all the groups that are showing up from around the Detroit area to help for a day or two.  We are so grateful for all the help and the difference we are able to make because of all these volunteers.

Here is a short video highlighting what kind of work people are doing.  It features some youth and adults from Rhinelander Wisconsin, Pastor Jeff’s home church!

Check our Facebook pages for pictures as theses groups continue to come through!
